What is an AV Sink device?
No we aren’t talking about a kitchen and bathroom sink. An AV sink device is simply a commercial name for a display device – sometimes known as the end point, screen, video display, output device or even TV’s.
Examples of Sink devices:
There is a huge range of sink or display devices to choose from – based on the application or the environment of your system. All types tend to fit within the main categories of commercial display screen, projector, television or PC monitor. Within these categories are ever-increasing choices of solutions from Smart TVs, 3D, LED and LCD to interactive projectors, retail kiosks and mind-blowing huge video walls. Whatever the size, resolution or format your choice of sink device takes, it’s still the same basic principle of an electronic display device – displaying fixed image or video from the originating source device.
What is an AV source?
The source of your professional AV or home entertainment system is simply the player, media storage or media creation device from which your content originates (whether that be audio, video or both). An example is a DVD player connected to a television – the DVD player is the source (and the television the display device/sink).
